OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/20/2025, at approximately 8:00 AM, deputies from the Adams County Sheriff's Office and Brighton Police Department attempted to serve a search warrant at a residence in the 20400 block of East 160th Avenue in Brighton, Colorado. A woman inside the home refused to cooperate and claimed to have hostages. Negotiations took place, and other occupants were released. Around 11:30 AM, as SWAT officers moved to enter, she fired at them, injuring three deputies. Deputies opened fire, and as they pulled back, they heard a gunshot from inside. She was later found dead from a gunshot wound near a fire that had started on the property. The 17th Judicial Critical Response Team is investigating the incident.
