Dezaree Archuleta was incarcerated in May 2022 with a documented history of mental health challenges, including major depressive disorder and prior suicide attempts. Despite expressing suicidal thoughts multiple times and engaging in self-harm, she was removed from suicide watch. On June 9, 2022, she was found unresponsive in her cell, having died by suicide. Her family has since filed a federal lawsuit against Wellpath, the jail's healthcare provider at the time, alleging negligence and inadequate care.
