On December 26, 2023, at approximately 7:42 a.m., a 44-year-old male inmate was found unresponsive and not breathing in his assigned single-occupancy cell at the El Paso County Jail. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office does not suspect foul play; however, a full investigation is underway. The cause of death will be released upon completion of an autopsy by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
