On January 13, 2025, deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at a private residence in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Upon arrival, they discovered 84-year-old Joan Sorace deceased from a gunshot wound. Her husband, 87-year-old John Sorace, a former Nashville assistant police chief, was subsequently arrested and charged with reckless homicide in connection with her death.
