Mason County Sheriff's deputies attempted to contact a man in connection with a stolen property case. The man fled in a vehicle, striking a detective's car. Deputies escalated a chase, which ended when the vehicle crashed at the intersection of 144th Street Northwest and 92nd Avenue Northwest. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the vehicle and the driver of a bystander car sustained injuries. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
