OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On February 28, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., an officer with the Hyattsville City Police Department attempted to stop a Lincoln sedan in the 3300 block of East-West Highway in Chillum, Maryland. The driver initially stopped but then continued driving westbound on East-West Highway. The officer escalated a chase but later discontinued pursuit near 23rd Avenue. The fleeing driver continued through the intersection, veered onto the shoulder, and struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division, alongside the Maryland State Police Crash Team, is investigating the incident.
