On February 28, 2025, just before midnight, a driver in a Honda Accord was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed in the southbound lanes of Blue Ridge Cutoff near Sni-A-Bar Road in Kansas City, Missouri. The Honda collided head-on with a Jackson County Sheriff's deputy's Ford Explorer patrol vehicle. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they are in stable condition.
