OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/02/2025, at approximately 8:55 p.m., Huntsville Police Department officers arrested 68-year-old John Mitchell Rigdon for third-degree criminal trespassing at Crestwood Hospital. Earlier that day, Rigdon had been discharged from the hospital but returned despite being previously trespassed, prompting hospital staff to contact law enforcement. Upon arrival at the Madison County Jail, medical personnel noted Rigdon's history of medical issues, including a serious terminal condition, and placed him in the jail infirmary.
He was found dead. The Madison County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
