OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/02/2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., San Antonio Police Department officers conducted surveillance on an illegal after-hours establishment in the 5000 block of West Military Drive. As officers approached, a shot was fired from inside. Aaron Huerta-Hernandez, 28, exited through a back door holding a firearm. He allegedly raised it toward Officer Jose Claire. Police opened fire, shooting Huerta-Hernandez. He retreated inside and barricaded himself. After several hours, he surrendered and was transported to a hospital in stable condition. The SAPD Shooting Team and Internal Affairs Unit are conducting separate investigations, with findings to be reviewed by the Bexar County District Attorney's office.
