Phillip Randall Ledford was arrested by the Pelham Police Department after being accused of robbing the Deer Springs Grocery Gas Station at gunpoint. He was booked into the Shelby County Jail with a $100,000 bond and no bond for a probation violation. He was assessed by on-site medical staff and housed in the medical unit for the duration of his incarceration.
On March 7, 2025, at approximately 7:16 AM, he experienced medical distress. Southeast Shelby Rescue arrived, and he was pronounced dead at 7:53 AM. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine his cause of death.
