OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On March 7, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Jefferson City Police Department officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 200 block of Gordon Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered 53-year-old Julie Knehans, who was armed. Officers opened fire, killing her. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. An internal administrative review by the Jefferson City Police Department will also be conducted.
