OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On March 13, 2025, Gila County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a theft in progress at GO AZ Motorcycles in Rye, Arizona. Upon arrival, deputies found a pickup truck towing a trailer loaded with UTVs. When deputies attempted to make contact, the driver of the pickup truck failed to comply with commands. One deputy fired his weapon, and the driver of the truck was struck. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men fled and remain at large. The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the shooting, while Gila County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the related theft.
