In the early hours of March 17, 2025, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office responded to a request from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office regarding a man involved in a shooting incident in Marshall County. Jedidiah S. Skinner, 30, of Smithland, Kentucky, was located by a Lyon County deputy at Huck's Travel Center on US-62 in Kuttawa. Upon making contact, an altercation ensued, during which the deputy opened fire, killing Skinner. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.
