On March 17, 2025, at approximately 1 p.m., Modesto Police Department officers attempted to apprehend 40-year-old Jimmy Lee Rupe near Max Muscle Sports Nutrition at 3250 Dale Road. Rupe had multiple felony warrants for lewd acts with a child and other charges. During the encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred. Rupe was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
