On March 17, 2025, at approximately 11:59 p.m., deputies at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin responded to an emergency call from a 37-year-old detained man's cell, activated by his cellmate. They found him unresponsive with visible injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:11 a.m. on March 18, 2025. Authorities confirmed he was beaten while in custody. The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death as a homicide.
