OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 03/19/2025, a high-speed chase began around 2:30 a.m. when West Chester Township police attempted to stop a reportedly stolen vehicle identified by a license plate reader. The driver did not stop, and police escalated a chase southbound on I-75, reaching speeds of 110 mph. The suspect vehicle crashed near Glendale Milford Road and Evendale Drive, and the occupants ran on foot. A Lockland officer encountered a Black male suspect walking along I-75 near Shepherd Lane. The suspect, holding an object, ignored commands. The officer first deployed a Taser, but it had no effect. The officer then opened fire, striking the man in the chest. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
