OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On March 19, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Ferry County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call on Boulder Creek Road in Curlew, Washington. Upon arrival, deputies announced their presence and were met with gunfire through the door, resulting in Deputy Edwin Lopez being shot in the leg. He was transported to Ferry County Memorial Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Inside the residence, deputies discovered the bodies of a man and his girlfriend, Lisa Blakeney, a 56-year-old deputy district court clerk. Investigations indicate that the man shot Blakeney before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide.
