OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On March 21, 2025, a Seat Pleasant Police Department officer attempted a traffic stop on a Genesis sedan in the 6300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway. The driver initially stopped but then fled. A “be on the lookout” alert was issued, and Prince George's County Police located the Genesis at a nearby gas station. The driver refused to stop, and officers escalated a chase. The Genesis collided with an SUV at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway and Belle Haven Drive. The SUV’s adult female driver was killed, and a juvenile passenger was injured. The fleeing driver was arrested and hospitalized in critical condition. The Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division is investigating.
