On March 23, 2025, around 2:00 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers pursued a stolen vehicle traveling over 100 miles per hour on Highway 4 in Pittsburg. The driver exited at Railroad Avenue and crashed into a blue SUV that was not involved in the chase. Villamalia Polina Tu'ipulotu, 23, was a passenger in the SUV and died in the collision. Her fiancé, who was driving the SUV, and the suspect were transported to a hospital. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the fatal crash.
