On March 23, 2025, Johnston County deputies responded to a disconnected 911 call from a residence on Chaney Drive in Garner. When dispatchers called back, 53-year-old Christopher Pugh answered and denied making the call, but a woman could be heard in the background pleading for help. Deputies arrived and heard gunshots. After obtaining a warrant, they entered the home and found Christopher Pugh and his wife, 54-year-old Teresa Adams-Pugh, both dead from gunshot wounds. Family members said there were no known signs of domestic violence. The incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
