On March 23, 2025, a 911 call from a home on Chaney Drive in Garner, North Carolina, prompted a response from the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. When dispatchers called back, 53-year-old Christopher Pugh answered and denied making the call, though a woman could be heard in the background pleading for help. Deputies arrived and heard gunfire inside.
