On March 26, 2025, Henderson Police responded to a welfare check at Community Park and found a man armed inside a vehicle. Officers attempted negotiation, but the man shot himself before the situation could be resolved. No officers fired weapons. The incident led to lockdowns at South Heights Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, and South Middle School. The park remained closed during investigation. The man’s name was not released.
