OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
At approximately 2:57 a.m., a Marin County sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a motorist driving recklessly near Andersen Drive and Bellam Boulevard in San Rafael. The driver did not stop. Police escalated a high-speed chase that ended when the vehicle crashed into a tree, ejecting the driver. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:12 a.m. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an independent investigation.
