Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officers responded to reports of a man holding his pregnant girlfriend against her will with a firearm. Suydam exited his vehicle and allegedly drew a pistol and pointed it at officers. Police opened fire, striking him in the leg and hip. He was taken to the hospital. He was pronounced dead.
