On April 17, 2025, around 9:21 a.m., Carson City Sheriff's deputies approached a parked vehicle near the Carson Nugget casino. The male occupant, identified as a wanted parolee from Arizona, fled on foot as deputies attempted to arrest him on a felony warrant. The foot chase led to the corner of Curry Street and Robinson Street, where the man produced a handgun. Deputies opened fire, fatally shooting him. No deputies were injured. The Nevada Division of Investigations is reviewing the incident.
