On April 18, 2025, a 28-year-old male inmate was found unresponsive in his cell at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. The man was pronounced dead at approximately 9:15 a.m. Authorities believe he suffered a medical episode related to withdrawal symptoms from a controlled substance. The inmate had been booked into the facility the previous day on drug possession charges. It is unknown whether he ever received medical care in jail. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause and manner of death. The Bexar County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office is leading the death investigation, and the Texas Commission on Jail Standards has been notified.
