OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 18, 2025, around 11:40 a.m., Fulton County police officers observed a man jaywalking near the Budgetel Inn & Suites on Fulton Industrial Boulevard SW. Upon checking his identity, they discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest. As officers attempted to detain him, the man pulled a pistol from his pocket and began firing at the officers while fleeing. An exchange of gunfire ensued, during which a Fulton County officer and a South Fulton police officer were injured. The suspect was fatally shot during the incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation into the shooting.
