On April 20, 2025, Baton Rouge police officers responded to a report of a man firing a gun in the 3100 block of North 31st Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered the man, who began shooting at them. Officers returned fire, striking the man. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
