OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 20, 2025, Louisville Metro Police responded to reports of a man armed with a knife, yelling at neighbors and breaking windows in the Crescent Hill neighborhood. Officers encountered the man and attempted to take him into custody. During the encounter, the man stabbed an officer in the chest. The officer was wearing a bulletproof vest and survived the attack. In response, the officer opened fire and killed the man. The officer was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The man’s identity has not been released.
