On April 20, 2025, at approximately 7:00 a.m., a male detained at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna, Louisiana, was found unresponsive in his housing unit. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office stated that the man died by suicide. An investigation is underway. His identity has not been released.
