OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 19, 2025, at approximately 6:00 a.m., 57-year-old Geneva Daniels began receiving medical treatment while in custody at the Buncombe County Detention Facility in Asheville, North Carolina. She was transported to Mission Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Daniels had been booked into the facility on April 18, 2025, on charges of possession of methamphetamine.
The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office has notified Daniels' next of kin, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the District Attorney's Office. The cause of death is currently under investigation.
