OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on April 20, 2025, an Itasca County deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling without headlights on County Road 63. The driver did not stop and a pursuit began. The vehicle crashed at the intersection of Highway 6 and County Road 11 in Cohasset Township. The driver, 13-year-old Angelica, was killed. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Her mother stated she had been placed in a foster home just hours earlier and believes Angelica was trying to return home to Cass Lake. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
