On April 17, 2025, at approximately 9:21 a.m., a deputy from the Carson City Sheriff's Office attempted a traffic stop at the Nugget Casino parking lot near Spear and Robinson Streets. The man, identified as 35-year-old Alexander Allinger of Yuma County, Arizona, had a felony warrant for aggravated assault and parole violation. Allinger fled on foot and was pursued to a nearby parking lot. There, he pulled out a handgun. Deputies opened fire, killing him at the scene. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
