OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 26, 2025, a U-Haul box truck was chased for unknown reasons by South Carolina Highway Patrol until it veered into oncoming traffic on Meeting Street in downtown Charleston while being chased. The truck struck two pedestrians and a Mercedes sedan before colliding with a motorcycle. The motorcycle passenger, 42-year-old Shinique Toussaint-Allah, was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force injuries. Seven people were injured in total. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
