OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 28, 2025, at approximately 8:19 PM MST, Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) officers responded to reports of gunshots heard in the area of Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens, located at 7366 North Paseo Del Norte. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male subject armed with a weapon within the closed park premises. During the confrontation, officers discharged their firearms, resulting in the suspect's death at the scene. No officers or community members were injured during the incident.
The Pima Regional Critical Incident Team (PRCIT) has been activated to conduct an independent investigation into the shooting, as per standard protocol for officer-involved shootings in southern Arizona.
