OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On May 7, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Orange County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a battery and strangulation at an apartment in the 3900 block of Titelist Court in Orlando. Upon arrival, deputies heard screaming from inside the residence and forced entry through the front door. As they moved through the apartment, a 19-year-old woman, identified as Vanessa Eugene, emerged from a back room and moved toward the deputies with a knife. Two deputies opened fire, striking Eugene. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident.
