OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
James Peterson, 50, of Ponca City, died after crashing during a police chase in Woodward. Officers attempted to stop Peterson, who was wanted on a felony warrant and had a suspended license. Peterson refused to stop, and police initiated a pursuit. A tactical vehicle intervention, a.k.a. PIT maneuver, was used, causing Peterson to veer off the road and hit a tree. He died at the crash site. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation.
