On May 8, 2025, around 6:00 p.m., Burnsville Police responded to a mental health crisis at a residence on Carriage Lane. The situation escalated into a standoff. Southcross Drive was closed between Carriage Lane and Portland Avenue during the response. After several hours, police entered the residence and found a man dead from a gunshot wound. The scene was declared secure and the investigation remains ongoing.
