OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 18, 2025, a man was found unresponsive in his cell at Coweta County Jail with a bedsheet tied around his neck. Another detained individual alerted jail staff, who initiated life-saving measures. Coweta County Fire Rescue EMS responded and transported the man to Newnan Piedmont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Coweta County Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the death, which is being treated as an apparent suicide. His name has not been released.
