On 05/09/2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., 44-year-old Willie T. Wills of Moundville was involved in a fatal two-vehicle crash on Alabama Highway 5 near mile marker 84, about two miles south of Brent. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Wills was attempting to elude an officer with the Brent Police Department when the 2024 Dodge Hornet he was driving collided with an SUV. Wills was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV sustained injuries and was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment. Two juvenile passengers in the SUV were also injured and taken to local hospitals. The severity of their injuries has not been disclosed. The crash remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
