On the night of May 9, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., 44-year-old Willie T. Wills of Moundville was fatally injured during a police pursuit in Bibb County, Alabama. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Wills was attempting to elude an officer from the Brent Police Department when his 2024 Dodge Hornet collided with an SUV on Alabama Highway 5 near mile marker 84, about two miles south of Brent. Wills was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV's driver sustained injuries and was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Two juvenile passengers in the SUV were also injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment. The incident remains under investigation by ALEA.
