OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 9, 2025, around 4:00 a.m., St. Louis police responded to a ShotSpotter alert and found a man shot dead on a porch on Wells Avenue. While police awaited a warrant, a 61-year-old man exited the home, briefly spoke to officers, then returned inside. He emerged minutes later with a rifle and opened fire. A SLMPD officer and an ATF agent returned fire. The man retreated, and SWAT later found him dead near the doorway. Inside the house, two more victims were found dead—one in the living room, one in the basement. Five guns were recovered, three near the shooter.
