OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On May 12, 2025, Aurora police responded to a trespassing report at The Parking Spot near Denver International Airport, where a man was reportedly checking car door handles and refusing to leave. An officer attempted to de-escalate the situation and used a Taser, which was ineffective. The man became combative, pulled the officer to the ground, and allegedly grabbed items from the officer’s duty belt. During the struggle, the officer opened fire, striking the man. Both were hospitalized, and the man was later pronounced dead. The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.
