OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 4, 2025, Tulsa police officers responded to a chaotic shooting scene near East 2nd Street South and South Elgin Avenue during a large gathering. Officers were already on-site due to the size of the crowd when multiple people began shooting. Officers identified 21-year-old Thurman Wilson as one of the armed individuals firing from behind them. Wilson was shot and killed by police. Another armed individual was shot and wounded while attempting to flee. At least five bystanders were also injured in the incident. The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office is investigating.
