Millcreek Township police responded to reports of a man armed with a hammer at The Reserve at Millcreek Apartments. Upon arrival, officers encountered 36-year-old Patrick Kanonczyk, who allegedly threw a hammer at them and wielded another weapon. Officers opened fire, fatally shooting him. The Erie County Coroner ruled the death a homicide. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.
