On April 30, 2025, Milwaukee police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Newberry and Hackett, where occupants were seen attempting to open parked car doors. Officers located a silver hatchback matching the description and initiated a traffic stop near Capitol and Green Bay Road. The vehicle initially pulled over but then fled, traveling northbound in the southbound lanes at high speed. Approximately 20 seconds later, the fleeing vehicle collided head-on with a Ford Edge traveling southbound. The crash resulted in the deaths of two passengers in the suspect vehicle. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Darius Boldery of Cudahy, was found trapped in the driver's seat and was arrested at the scene. Two firearms, an American Tactical .22 caliber rifle and an Anderson Manufacturing .223 caliber AR-15 style rifle, were recovered from the vehicle. Boldery faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree reckless homicide, two counts of fleeing/eluding an officer resulting in death, and three counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
