On April 30, 2025, Milwaukee police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle near North Downer and North Hackett Avenues. The vehicle fled, leading officers on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of North 13th Street and North Green Bay Avenue. Xavier G. Valdovino-Torres, 18, a passenger in the fleeing vehicle, was transported to the hospital where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.Another passenger, 17-year-old Keon B. Carter, also died. The driver, 19-year-old Darius Boldery of Cudahy, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree reckless homicide. Two firearms were recovered from the vehicle.
