On April 30, 2025, Milwaukee police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle near North Downer and North Hackett Avenues. The vehicle fled, leading officers on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of North 13th Street and North Green Bay Avenue. Keon B. Carter, 17, a passenger in the fleeing vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, 18-year-old Xavier G. Valdovino-Torres, was transported to the hospital where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver, 19-year-old Darius Boldery of Cudahy, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree reckless homicide.
