OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 10, 2025, David Elliot Dickerson, a 72-year-old inmate at the Forsyth County Detention Center, was found unresponsive in his cell. Detention staff initiated CPR and other lifesaving measures; however, Dickerson was pronounced dead by emergency medical services. He had been arrested on May 7, 2025, on charges of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and indecent liberties with a minor. In accordance with protocol, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has requested an independent investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
