OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On May 13, 2025, San Joaquin County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a man acting erratically on Waterloo Road in Stockton. Deputies encountered a man who pointed an object at them. Believing it to be a weapon and fearing for their lives, deputies opened fire and struck the man. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The object turned out not to be a weapon. Bodycam and aerial footage of the incident were released. The California Department of Justice is conducting an investigation.
